Miss Coulter appeared on today’s edition of Good Morning Britain via satellite link from America to talk about how Mr Trump had done in the heated discussion with Mrs Clinton, 68.

She told hosts Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan conceded that she had not been totally won over by how he came across, saying: “I was a little disappointed that he didn’t take some opportunities.”

However, she went on to say: “I would have honestly said it was a draw. Trump was not Hitler.”

Miss Coulter hit out at the American media for likening him to the dictator, criticising journalists for their negative coverage of Mr Trump.

“On the other hand, Trump was not Hitler, so he actually did very well. In that the media has been hysterical when you’re complaining all day, ‘oh, the expectations for Donald Trump are so low,'” she explained.

The right-wing commentator continued: “Well, who created those low expectations? They’ve been calling him some combo-platter of David Duke and Adolf Hitler for the past 14 months.”

She kept comparing Mr Trump to the Nazi leader, prompting presenter Susanna, 45, to say: “Should that have even been in the ether of Trump?”

Miss Coulter responded: “But like tonight with Trump, the media image of Trump has been so ugly, I’m not joking when I said he didn’t come across at Hitler, so he won.”

While polls declared Secretary Clinton had won in the first round of debate, Miss Coulter felt that the online polls were a more accurate representation of how the audience felt about the outcome.

According to a poll from CNN, Monday night’s debate was won by Mrs Clinton with only 27 per cent of people saying that Mr Trump was victorious.

“These online polls, the person who lost was the moderator. He is in a terrible position,” Miss Coulter said.

Mr Trump and Mrs Clinton clashed last night during their joint televised discussion, which saw them taking swipes at one another over tax returns and not releasing emails.

He also seemed to not go in as hard on Mrs Clinton as people may have been expecting him to.

This will be the first of three televised debates as the two candidates try to win over the hearts and minds of the American people and secure their vote for the election on November 8.
